Once more the Yarra Valley will be alive with the sound of music, wine and culinary delights when the annual Shedfest Wine Festival returns for its 17th year.

Taking place on the 13th and 14th of October, the iconic wine region will be proud host to visitors as they celebrate the providence of grape-to-glass production of premium locally produced wine.

Hosted by the Yarra Valley Smaller Wineries Association (YVSWA), the two-day event – just one hours drive out of Melbourne – will see both small and family owned wineries and vineyards open their cellar doors and wine sheds, giving visitors a fully immersive and unique wine tasting experience.

From its humbles beginnings 17 years ago, the continual growth and success of the annual Shedfest event has not only led to its expansion across the entire Yarra Valley but has also given enduring business prominence to local winemakers and their brands.

President of YVSWA Daniel Tokar said the event has established itself as an integral destination event for the industry and is a great way to educate wine novices and connoisseur’s alike.

“We invite visitors to stop, take a breath of fresh air, take some photos against some magical backdrops and learn about what it takes to make each and every wine, how weather and climate affect our production and how the wine tastes, and what to expect from different vintages,” said Daniel.

This family-friendly festival offers a range of fine fare including premium wines with exclusive releases and unique gastronomic delights with each winery offering different cuisines, cellar-door specials, as well as live music and entertainment.

The history of the Yarra Valley is both rich and varied, with settlement in the region representing a very significant part of the economic development of the state of Victoria in the 1800s, with the Yarra Valley being Victoria’s first wine growing district.

Today it is one of the world’s leading cold climate wine growing regions, home to internationally recognised and award winning wines and remains Victoria’s premier food and wine tourism destination.

Entry to the Yarra Valley Shedfest Wine Festival is $15, which includes a souvenir glass for tastings at all the participating wineries, with some of the proceeds from the sale of the glass going to a local community group, CFA or SES.
